Built
in December 1998, Station 11 serves as the headquarters for SWAC. It
houses the offices for the Chief, the Fire Bureau, Training, and Administration.
Six career firefighters call Station 11 home and staff Engine 11 and Medic 11.
There are four other pieces of apparatus that are stationed at Station 11 at
various times.
Truck 11 is a Pierce 100 foot aerial tower. This truck has designated responses for various target hazards within the district. Rescue 11 is a Pierce Heavy Rescue. This apparatus carries specialty equipment for water rescues, rope/technical rescue, limited hazmat responses, industrial accidents, and extrication equipment. It also has a foam fire extinguishing unit. Attack 11 is a wildland firefighting apparatus used for brush and weed fires and is housed at Station 11 during the summer fire season. In addition, Station 11 also holds a Zodiac rapid water response inflatable that is used for water rescues.
In
1966, this was station was built to hold apparatus for volunteer responses.
In 1995, living quarters were added to the back and loft of the station.
It currently is staffed by a Firefighter-Paramedic and Firefighter-EMT on Medic
12. In addition, the station also houses Engine 12, which is used for
limited responses within the district.
Originally
built in 1992, Station 14 saw a major overhaul in 2003 to allow for more
personnel living quarters. It is staffed by three firefighters, including
a shift Lieutenant. The station holds Engine 14, as well as either the
Rescue or Attack truck, depending on the season. In addition to the career
firefighters, many of the volunteers work from this station.
