September 2007
The department has enlisted the Denver Regional Council of Governments
FIRE testing program as its hiring pool for firefighter candidates.
This will save the department both time and money when soliciting for
new hires. DRCOG maintains a continuous list of available
candidates from which the department may draw from.
April 2007
The 2006 Annual Report has
been posted. This contains statistics for the year from the fire
prevention department, as well as the firefighter shifts. The EMS
annual report will be posted soon.
February 2007
Southwest Adams County Fire Rescue has become the recipient of
several sets of oxygen masks for dogs, cats, and other pets. They were
donated to our department, as well as other metro departments, by the
Best Friends Pet Care "Cause
for Paws" program.
The mask sets, which cost $50 each, have three different sized masks for
dogs and cats. Currently, fire departments are ill-equipped to treat
pets that are victims of smoke exposure secondary to structure fires.
Last year, over 40,000 pets died in home fires across the United States.
April 19,
2006
For the second straight year, Southwest Adams County Fire Rescue
has been the recipient of a general dividend from its worker
compensation insurer, Pinnacol Assurance. The program, which was
instituted in 2005, rewards policy holders that maintain a safe working
environment, have good safety records, and have low claims costs. The
department was one of only a few fire departments that have received
this honor each year.
2006
The Southwest
Adams County Fire Protection District recently received a new ISO
rating of 3! This could not have been accomplished without the
support of the voters of the district and the hard work of the
department's staff and firefighters. This new rating will result
in lower insurance costs to both residents and business owners of the
district.
